2013 Factory Stock Rules Revert Back to 2012

2013 Factory Stock Rules Revert Back to 2012

2/27/2013

Kilgore, TX (2/27/13) by DarinShort.com. The 2013 LoneStar Speedway Factory Stock rules have an amendment that will be in effect for the first race night in 2013.

The rule change is that the former 2012 rules will be in effect for the 2013 season.

There was only one change for 2013 originally, which was the option for drivers to choose to run either 8" or 10" wide steel wheels.

10" wheels are not going to be allowed for the 2013 racing season. All drivers must run 8" wide wheels.

This means the wheel rules at LoneStar Speedway are the same as area tracks such as RPM Speedway and Ark-La-Tex Speedway, so Factory Stock teams will run the same wheels at which ever track they choose to compete at.

2013 LoneStar Speedway Season Kicks Off with 2/23 Practice

Kilgore, TX (2/19/13) by DarinShort.com. The revitalization of LoneStar Speedway has continued over the off-season, as track owners Lisa and Sam Hafertepe continue to make improvements to the facility. Teams and race fans can get their first look at the new changes this Saturday, February 23rd as Open Practice and Registration will commence at Noon and run until 4pm.

Another 15 loads of clay have been added to the racing surface. This is in addition to the clay that was added prior to the LoneStar Sprint Nationals this past October.

And to help manicure the racing surface, a maintenance vehicle has been purchased that features large implement tires; which will aid in prepping.

The existing asphalt driveway behind the main grandstand has been pulled up and resurfaced with crushed driveway rock, which will make a smoother ride in and out of the facility for race fans.

The LoneStar Speedway has come a long way since Hafertepe’s purchased it back in 2009. They have spent a tremendous amount of time and money to help give race fans and teams a quality facility for racing.

And those efforts are showing. Car counts and fan counts have risen dramatically over the period the past four years, especially since the reconfiguration of the surface two seasons ago. That reconfiguration has also led to lots of side-by-side racing, resulting in more excitement for race fans.

Sam Hafertepe comments: “It is our goal to give our teams and fans a quality racing experience, and we’re going to keep making enhancements and improvements to the facility. It’s produced really good racing since the reconfiguration and we are looking forward to a fun and exciting 2013 racing season.”

Open Practice (any racing division) & Registration opens at Noon this Saturday and runs until 4pm. All pit passes are $15 and there is no charge for grandstand admission. Fuel will be available.

Please click www.LoneStarSpeedway.com for a complete 2013 racing season schedule, updated division rules, ticket prices, start times, directions and more.

The Hafertepe family would like to take this chance to thank all of the fans, race teams and track workers for their past support and look forward to seeing everyone again in 2013, beginning with open practice this Saturday, February 23rd from Noon until 4pm.

Turkey Wins to Litton, Burford, Grigsby & McBride

Turkey Wins to Litton, Burford, Grigsby & McBride

11/26/2012

Litton, Burford, Grigsby & McBride take season finales; IRP Race Cars owner Jason Ingalls injured.

Unofficial results & notes from LoneStar Speedway, Kilgore, Texas, November 24th, 2012 courtesy of Bill Kitchen.

SUPR Late Models: 2012 and now 3-time SUPR Late Model champion Rob Litton passed Shane Hebert in lapped traffic with a lap and a half to go to take top honors and win the 50-lap, $3500-to-win season finale for SUPR. Litton won two SUPR races this year to bring his career total to 27. He won the first race of the season back in March and now, he's won the last one. Hebert finished 2nd with Patriot Day Lonestar winner Kevin Sitton getting 3rd. (results unofficial) SUPR points runner-up Allen Tippen was 4th and Childress Racing's Chris Wall came from 17th starting spot to finish 5th. His Childress Racing teammate BJ Robinson also had a good car in the A-main and appeared to be advancing when the most serious crash of the race occurred on a lap 19 restart with Robinson in the 6th position. (first 18 laps were caution free). The incident which saw BJ's #F5 go airborne into the upper guard rail in turn one eliminated the cars of Robinson, Troy Berdan and 2012 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series champion Jon Mitchell.

P&W Sales Motorsports racer and 2011 SUPR Champion Morgan Bagley led much of the race and appeared unreachable to the rest of the field until a broken axle eliminated the #14M. Morgan Bagley will represent Texas on the World of Outlaw Late Model tour in 2013 and go for the Rookie-of-the-Year title in that series. Bagley also won the SUPR rookie title in 2011 and the title stayed in the P&W Sales Racing stables in 2012 with Zach McMillan claiming SUPR RotY in the #14Z P&W Sales car. SUPR and P&W Sales also made the announcement at the speedway last night that in 2013, it will be the P&W Sales SUPR Late Model tour as the Kilgore, Texas-based company will become title sponsor for the series.

Mods: Jamie Burford ran a good heat but broke something and was a DNF. So he started last in an 8-car B main and won it to start 13th in the A-main. He took his IRP (Ingalls Racing Products) Chassis to the lead with an outside pass on Dustin Duncan Memorial winner Cody Simpson and went on to victory from there. Simpson finished 2nd with Kevin Nixon, 3rd. 2012 Track Champion Larry Fears I believe was 4th. Results unofficial. They will get posted at www.LonestarSpeedway.com later.

Unfortunately, Burford's car builder Jason Ingalls was seriously injured in the feature when an object entered his car's interior and shattered the face shield on his helmet. Ingalls remains in Good Shepherd Medical Center Hospital in Longview with several painful facial bone fractures that will require surgery. That's the bad news. The good news is, full recovery is expected. Ingalls was leading the race when he pulled into the infield with some kind of mechanical trouble. After several laps, they repaired the car and he had rejoined the field at the back of the pack for some testing when the accident occurred.

30 SUPR Late Models, 27 Open Wheel Modifieds, 39 Limited Modifieds and 42 Factory Stocks on hand. 138 in 4 classes. Sure can't complain about that any time and especially on Nov 24th. The afternoon was very pleasant. About 60 with no wind and lots of clear sunny skies. But that meant a big temp drop at sunset. It was 40 when I left the track a little before 9. Pretty nice crowd too although some left a little early when it got cold. The racing may have been some of the best I've seen at Lone Star all season. Those of you who have a subscription, can check out the Late Model highlights at www.DirtonDirt.com/ . The racing will impress you! It's $6.99 for a month's worth or $65 for the year. They will be covering Florida Speedweeks so...gift subscription to a loved one who happens to be a racing fan perhaps? Burford's drive in the Modifieds was impressive too and in the last race of the season, the Factory Stocks stayed side-by-side the whole 15 laps with only ONE caution!

Limited Mods: Dereck Grigsby drove his Express Race Cars #69 from the 3rd row to win the race. Keith Lee, Jr. was second. Not sure after that but I believe Bob Kellogg and then Barry Hornbeck and Bud Reed who came out of the B-mains, got the top 5 finishes. Official results will get posted at www.LonestarSpeedway.com/ later. Dennie Gieber appeared headed for victory in the #15W but mechanical issues caused him to pull off the track without finishing.

Factory Stocks: Donny McBride, Jr. got in the black #3 this week and took the win. Jonathan Stewart was 2nd. Steve Grantz (former Corpus Christi native who may be headed that way this weekend for the South Texas Shootout) made a late race pass on track champion Dewayne Pace to take third with Pace getting 4th. Steve Hearne, TJ Evans, Cody Robbins, Bubba Vines, Josh Daugherty & Joey Vergo were all among the racers who made the last feature of the year a memorable one with a side-by-side 15-lap feature that only had one caution and that was due to a mechanical failure, not a spin. Robbins won a B-main and then I believe came from 14th to 5th but again, not sure. Official results will get posted at www.LonestarSpeedway.com/ later.
