KILGORE, TX (5/8/12) by DarinShort.com. LoneStar Speedway (LSS) is situated right in the geographic center of two large groups of RaceSaver® sprint car teams that utilize different right rear tire rules.

Last fall at the LoneStar Sprint Nationals (LSN), a rule was implemented where either the Southern Thunder Sprint (STS) Series or Sprint Series of Texas (SST) stamped right rear tires would be legal to be used by the competitors. The rule change allowed all teams in the region to participate in the event – and the results were excellent.

That being said, all remaining RaceSaver sanctioned events on the 2012 event schedule will allow the same tire rule that was implemented at the 2011 LSN; which is, drivers can choose whether they run the STS or SST stamped right rear tire.

Remaining 2012 RaceSaver dates on the LSS schedule include:

Saturday, June 9th: “Thunder on the High Banks” Round 2, for STS Series.

Saturday, July 28th: LoneStar RaceSaver Sprint Special (details TBA).

Saturday, August 11th: “Thunder on the High Banks” Round 3, for STS Series.

Saturday, September 29th: Nationals Warm-Up for RaceSaver Sprints.

Thu.-Sat. Oct. 11th-13th: 2nd Annual $120,000 LoneStar Sprint Nationals

This rules change will allow all teams, from both east and west, the opportunity of racing at LSS – and as importantly – the fans get to see a great field of cars competing when a RaceSaver sanctioned sprint race is scheduled.

To All Drivers and Car Owners:
We have pledged to give money and jackets to the Top 10 in Modifieds, Limited Modifieds and Factory Stock classes this year. In order to provide this fund we are contributing all annual registration fees (30.00) paid by the drivers for 2012 along with all 50/50 revenue and profits from the track program.
We desperately need your help in selling the 50/50 tickets. If we have to pay for people to sell them it is defeating the purpose. Please ask your wives, girlfriends, family or fans to volunteer 1 night to help sell tickets. This will benefit you, the drivers in making this a fantastic point fund. If each driver has 1 volunteer it will be greatly appreciated.

The weather forecast has removed the 20% chance precip, and now shows 81 degrees and partly cloudy at 7pm with a 10MPH wind out of the South, dropping to 72 degrees by 11pm.

The current weather forecast is showing pleasant racing conditions for this Saturday's "Thunder on the High Banks" at LoneStar Speedway:

Partly cloudy, high of 81 degrees, 20% chance of precip with an overnight low of 59.

The night features a complete program for the Southern Thunder Sprints, $1,000 to win Modifieds, $500 to win Limited Modifieds & $300 to win Factory Stocks...with adult general admission tickets held at just $10.

Kilgore TX (4/14/12) by DarinShort.com. The popular “Thunder on the High Banks” series returns to LoneStar Speedway (LSS) for ‘Round 1’ of action on Saturday April 28th. The event features the Southern Thunder Sprint (STS) series.

The three LSS points divisions will also be racing a complete program of heats and features. The Modifieds will be racing for $1,000 to win, plus $500 to win for the Limited Modifieds and $300 to win for the Factory Stocks.

This is the first of three “Thunder” series events scheduled for 2012 at LSS.

Track owner/operators Lisa and Sam Hafertepe have kept all 2012 LSS “Thunder” events with a rock bottom adult ticket price of just $10; which allows everyone a really family-affordable night at the races.

Fans can expect STS drivers including: Ty Johnson, Alan Myers, Cody Robbins, Matt Ebarb, Cody Harger, Koty Adams, Darren Harris, Regan Hawkins, David Forbis, Marty Hargroeder and several more to be in competition.

The only 2012 scheduled visit of The Oil Medics ASCS Lone Star Series takes on the 3/8 mile high banks of LoneStar Speedway with the running of the LoneStar Spring Sprint Invasion on Saturday April 7th. The Modifieds will also be racing for $1,000 to win; plus Limited Modifieds and Factory Stocks will round out the racing card.

Both Gary Wright and Michael Lang picked up ASCS victories at LoneStar Speedway in 2011. Fans can expect drivers such as Matt Covington (2011 series champion), Claud Estes III, Justin Melton, John Ricketts, Robert Byrom, Martin Edwards, Evan Pardo, Chad Wilson; plus a host of others, as very few sprint events are scheduled that night across the region.

Some people have been emailing with questions requesting more details for this event, so here you go:

-It will pay $3,000 to win the 25 lap feature (instead of $2,000), and normally would start 20 cars; but we will be starting 24, paying $250/start.

-There is no added pit cost or entry fee for the drivers...pits are $30.

-Adult tickets are just $15.

3/31 $50,000 "HIGH BANKS HAVOC" RACE DAY UPDATE:

We're all set for tonight, which will be the biggest paying Late Model race in the state of Texas scheduled for 2012; so don't miss out on what's sure to be a wild and exciting night of racing action in "The High Banks Havoc" at LoneStar Speedway!

You can expect 40+ Lucas Oil Late Models in the pit area, plus it's opening points night for the Modifieds, Limited Modifieds & Factory Stocks; so it will be a full night of racing.

Forecast is still A-OK, with race time temperatures forecast of 81 degrees, clear and south breeze of 7mph at 7pm, and dropping to a comfortable 71 degrees by 11pm.

The track is located at Exit 583 on I-20; go north about 1/2 mile to the 4-way stop, head East 1 mile and you'll run into the track entrance on the South side of the road.
