LoneStar Speedway Transformation: Changes by 11/13 Event; Pictures Included

Kilgore TX (11/1/10) by DarinShort.com. The storied history of LoneStar Speedway continues, as the ½ mile speed plant is now being transformed to include a wide, banked ¼ mile track.

Track owners Sam and Lisa Hafertepe comment: “We like tracks of all sizes, and part of the appeal of reopening LoneStar Speedway was to offer area drivers a big, wide open track to race at. The reality is, the drivers in the area have equipment to compete on shorter tracks, but the majority of them don’t have the equipment to race regularly on a big track like this. We’re changing it to help accommodate their needs so every race team can come have a great night of racing at LoneStar Speedway – all season long.”

The track will be reconfigured in plenty of time for the upcoming 5th Annual Dustin Duncan Memorial event to be held on November 13th. An open practice will be held on November 12th so teams can get their cars dialed in to the new track size.

The ½ mile track will still be intact for the 2011 special events such as the Sprint Cars and Late Models.

CORONA, CA (October 12, 2010) – Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series have released the 2011 racing schedule. It currently shows 41 confirmed dates in 19 different states. In 2011, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will begin its seventh season as the premier dirt late model sanctioning organization in North America. Coming off of the most successful season in series’ history in 2010, the series ran 39 events with 13 different winners and 500 drivers making at least one appearance in ’10. The series looks to build on its past success, that saw an unprecedented 14 drivers compete full-time with the tour. Heading into 2011, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is elated to release its official national schedule, having confirmed all dates with promoters, and having no TBA or TBD dates on the docket.

The 2011 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series national tour will kick off at the “Clay by the Bay” on February 7th with the six consecutive nights of action packed racing during the 35th Annual Dart Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will again be sanctioning some of the sports biggest events such as the DART Show-Me 100, Comp Cams Topless 100, Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100, and the 43rd Annual Hillbilly Hundred.

The series will be making its first ever visits to Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, TX and Roaring Knob Motorsports Park in Markleysburg, PA. “We are glad to have added a pair of new venues to the schedule this year. The 2010 schedule looked great, but this year looks even better,” said Lewis. “We feel that we have the best show in Dirt Late Model Racing, and I can’t thank our promoters, my staff, our drivers, car owners, sponsors, and our fans enough for their support. We have put together a great infrastructure for making the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series the foremost national late model touring series in the country.”

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series takes great pride in the fact that 100% of the tracks that sanctioned an event in 2010 are on the slate again for ’11. “It really goes to show you how devoted our promoters, staff, drivers, and fans are to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, that we have put together such a solid schedule as we head into the next season,” exclaimed Series Director, Ritchie Lewis.

Bo Bice Headlines “Rocktoberfest” at LoneStar Speedway on October 30

Kilgore TX (10/1/10) by DarinShort.com. East Texas is going to be rockin’ when Bo Bice headlines Rocktoberfest at LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore on Saturday night, October 30th. Joining Bo will be the sounds of two fantastic performing groups, Blackberry Smoke and Whiskey Myers.

The “Southern Rocker” style of Bo Bice first gained national notoriety from his performances on American Idol. Bice made it all the way to the finale in 2005. The Huntsville Alabama native then cranked out singles such as “Inside Your Heaven” and “The Real Thing;” as well as three albums, including the 2010 release “3.”

Atlanta based Blackberry Smoke continues to grow into the premiere Southern Rock band of America. Over the last 12 months they have shared the stage with ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Shooter Jennings, Cross Canadian Ragweed and countless others. The band has recently finished recording their sophomore effort “Little Piece of Dixie” with legendary producer Dann Huff (Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts) and engineer Justin Niebank.

East Texas based Whiskey Myers’ musical style was forged from several different genres of music from several different eras. The most obvious of these are the blues rock jam bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, and Led Zeppelin. Whiskey Myers is best known for their high energy twin guitars, soulful vocals, and unstoppable rhythm.

Online tickets to this triple-header are currently on sale – and at an incredible value. General admission tickets are just $15. Or, if you’d like to be right in the middle of the action, the reserved section tickets are just $20. The stage is located right in the front center of the reserved section.

Gates open at 5:30pm and Rocktoberfest performances begin at 7:30pm. Full food and drink concessions will be available, including beer sales; all at affordable prices. No outside food or drink allowed in to the gated grandstand area. A variety of apparel will also be for sale from the performers.

LoneStar Speedway is located at 3131 FM 1252 Kilgore Texas. Take exit 583 off of I-20, go north to the stop sign (less than a mile). Then go east (less than a mile) and you will see the track entrance on the south.
