LoneStar Speedway Making Up in a BIG Way after June 13th Rainout

Kilgore, TX (6/14/15) by DarinShort.com. When the rains hit yesterday afternoon at LoneStar Speedway, it might have 'dampened' everyone's spirits, but we're not going to 'drown' in tears worrying about it.

Yes, this was the 2nd time the $2,000 to win Texas Outlaw Modified Series had been scheduled at LSS and rained out.

Yes, this was the 2nd time the 'For the Love of Alex, Stop Texting and Driving' $1,300/win Limited Modified event got postponed by rain.

So, once again we've hit the ground running and have already booked the following event for SATURDAY, AUGUST 15:

NASCAR veteran driver KEN SCHRADER will take on the BEST MODIFIED DRIVERS IN TEXAS, when the Texas Outlaw Modified Series will make their first-ever LoneStar Speedway visit, paying $2,000 to win and $200 to start (24th).

Have a familiar ring? Yes, this is the original 'match up' we had set for April 18th, when it ended up falling to severe thunderstorms.

Additional details will be posted as time gets closer, as well as an event flyer.

We have a replacement date picked out for the 'For the Love of Alex, Stop Texting and Driving' $1,300/win Limited Modified event, and will post it when confirmed by Alex's parents, Trisha and Robert Taylor.

The special Factory Stock sponsorship from TNT Pick-a-Part in Greenwood LA (set for last night) will now be held on Saturday June 27th; which will make it $500/win Factory Stocks. The FS Hard Luck driver will take home $200 in credit towards in-stock replacement parts for their car...including items such as doors, fenders, hoods (all body panels) and stock replacement components.

We just wanted to let everyone know we're not going to let the weather decide if we all have a good time or not. It may not have been last night, but it will happen...Saturday, August 15th at LoneStar Speedway.

THANK YOU LOYAL LSS FANS & RACE TEAMS!

THANK YOU LOYAL LSS FANS & RACE TEAMS!

5/24/2015

THANK YOU to our LOYAL FANS and DRIVERS from LoneStar Speedway.

You all know that dirt track racing isn't an exact science. It is outdoors and there are many many factors that impact the fan experience including racing surface (changes in humidity, wind, wind direction, precip, amount of sun...etc.).

And it's important to mention that we know the loyal group of fans and racers at LoneStar really 'get it'.

Case in point. Yesterday the weather forecast wasn't real favorable, yet the radar was actually pretty favorable, for racing at LoneStar. But sometimes common sense has to prevail. We could clearly see storms were tracking from the South to the North. And we felt the storms were going to stay well to the West - which they did.

So even though we knew we were going to take a bit of a hit in attendance, as a lot of LSS fans come from the DFW area (where it was raining cats and dogs), we proceeded anyway...just as we have with many races in the past with less-than-favorable forecasts.

We would not have proceeded to go on with the racing program if we knew it was going to rain - as that would just be a waste of everyone's time and money.

But here's what's really important. Our loyal fans and drivers know when we say we're going to do something, we do it.

We make every attempt to follow through with what we're publishing for an upcoming event.

At every event, the rules and full purse structures are posted for every division, in every position - and that's what gets paid out - regardless of attendance or car count.

Bottom line: we're all in this together. Race tracks can't operate without fans or racers. Racer's can't race without a venue or fans to help pay their purse. And without racers or a decent venue, fans would have nothing to entertain them.

So thank you again to the 126 drivers in 4 divisions (from 4 states) and race fans for their support of this, and past LSS events.

It's what helps drive us forward - on occasions we have a forecast that's not so great.

Our next race up is a huge doubleheader on Saturday, June 13th. It's the LSS 6th Anniversary celebration with lots of fan & kids giveaways, $2,000 to win and $200/start (24th) for the Texas Outlaw Modified Series and the $1,300 to win and $100/start (24th) "For the Love of Alex, Stop Texting and Driving" 25-lap feature for Limited Modifieds. Factory Stocks and Beginner Factory Stocks will also be racing.

Here's the results from last night's races. I've got some video clips uploading from the awesome races last night. The drivers quickly adapted to the new wider track configuration - including a new track record in the SUPR Late Models by Jon Mitchell...who knocked 1/2 second off the LSS track record!
