NEXT RACE SAT. APR. 4: LoneStar BUNNY HOP 25

3/30/2015

LoneStar BUNNY HOP 25 features first ever SCLMS event, Saturday April 4!

Kilgore TX (3/18/15) by DarinShort.com. The next event on tap at LoneStar Speedway (LSS) will be a jammed night of racing, featuring the first-ever event for the Southern Crate Late Model Series (SCLMS) in the Bunny Hop 25, along with a complete program of heats and features in the Modifieds, Limited Modifieds and Factory Stocks. All of this takes place atop the high banked 1/3 mile on Saturday, April 4th...which also happens to coincide with a full moon that will rise shortly after the scheduled 7pm hot laps.

The SCLMS traveling teams will be competing in heat races that will set the line up for their 'Bunny Hop 25' lap feature event, held later in the evening.

The SCLMS will sanction 15 races in 2015 throughout the region that will be co-sanctioned by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series and will be run under the NeSmith Late Model rules. Drivers in the Southern Crate Series will not only compete for points and a point fund in that series, but they will also compete for NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National points. Click www.facebook.com/pages/Southern-Crate-L ... 8608468656 for additional SCLMS information.

Due to the March 14th rainout, this will also be the LSS season points opener for the Modifieds ($1,000/win and $100/start), Limited Modifieds ($500/win) and Factory Stocks ($300/win). As in 2014, non-qualifier money will be awarded to any team not making their feature race: Modifieds $50, Limited Modifieds $30 and Factory Stocks $20. Beginner Factory Stocks will cap off the night with their feature event. 2015 rules in all divisions are posted at the track website, drivers please make sure to review them prior to your arrival at the track on race night.

As in the past several years, LSS offers a fantastic awards program to drivers that compete in at least 75% of the completed LSS points events - with a minimum of $10,000 cash being distributed to top performing drivers in each of the LSS points divisions. Over $13,000 was paid out in 2013 and again in 2014, with all nightly 50/50 drawing funds and driver registration fees adding to the points fund. There are now only 11 weekends of racing on the 2015 LSS schedule, which makes plenty of time for drivers to visit other tracks, go on family vacations; etc., yet still compete for a sizable points fund championship.

Parents, make sure to gather up all the kids! LSS has several fun activities planned, including a giant Easter Egg Hunt (takes place just after hot laps, which are set for 7pm), Kids Bike Giveaways; and fans of all ages can meet the Easter Bunny, who will be circulating through the grandstand area for pictures and fan interaction.

An event flyer is posted at the track website and Facebook page. Division payback is posted at the track website.

Here are some quick facts for the SATURDAY, APRIL 4th event:

-Pits open by 4pm, Grandstands open at 5pm, Hot Laps at 7pm, with Racing to follow immediately. The draw-in for heat races closes at 6:15pm

**BREAKING NEWS: LoneStar Points Opener SUNDAY MARCH 29th - 2PM!**

Kilgore TX (3/20/15) by DarinShort.com. You know the expression 'when it rains it pours', well, with the crazy spring weather, LoneStar Speedway's (LSS) points opener (originally rained out on March 14) will now take place on SUNDAY, MARCH 29th at 2PM.

LoneStar Speedway needs every scheduled points event to be able to pay out the large points fund to its competitors...as there are only 12 full LSS points race weekends in 2015...and there are lots of drivers begging us to get a race in. So we are.

After viewing area track schedules - coupled with the long range forecast - it currently shows that racing next Sunday should be able to happen. The only problem would be if the current weather forecast changes. It's showing 73 degrees and partly cloudy now.

And if you are a LSS points driver and can't make this event due to the short notice, don't sweat it. Please remember that you only have to race at 75% of our completed points events to still be eligible for the points funds and awards. As far as the track is concerned, only having 12 weekends of racing means we have to come up with the most equitable solutions when a rainout does occur.

Since this is a quick turnaround event, lets jump right in to the specifics for SUNDAY, MARCH 29th:

1. This will be a full paying, full points event for the Modifieds ($1,000/win and $100/start), Limited Modifieds ($500/win) and Factory Stocks ($300/win). As in 2014, non-qualifier money will be awarded to any team not making their feature race: Modifieds $50, Limited Modifieds $30 and Factory Stocks $20.

1a. The Beginner Factory Stocks will round out the racing action with a feature race for their division.

2. Pits open by Noon on Sunday March 29th, Grandstands open at 1PM, Draw Cut-off at 1:30PM, Drivers Meeting at 1:45PM and Hot Laps at 2PM. Racing to follow immediately. We expect this event to conclude easily by 5:30-6pm, so everyone can get home at an early hour.

3. Adult grandstand tickets are $12, Kids 6-11 are $5; while Ages 5 and under are free with Adult admission. Seniors 65+ and active Military (with ID) are $10. All pit passes for all ages are $30. Upgrade any ticket to the Reserved Section (bucket seats) for $5 per person. No outside food/drink coolers are allowed inside, a full selection of economically priced food concessions, including beer, are available

4. Full payback and rules for each division are posted at the track website, www.LoneStarSpeedway.com

Please make plans now to join us on Sunday, March 29th at 2pm, as the 2015 LoneStar Speedway point's season kicks off - even though Mother Nature tried to put a dent in that plan last weekend!

Ken Schrader Takes on Top Texas Modified Drivers at LoneStar Speedway - Saturday April 18!

Kilgore TX (3/20/15) by DarinShort.com. Racers and fans alike are set for a night of personal interaction and racing action with Ken Schrader as he will take on the best Modified drivers in the state of Texas, Saturday April 18th at LoneStar Speedway (LSS) near Kilgore, TX.

This will be a Texas Outlaw Modified Series (TOMS) points event, with an excellent competitor purse being posted; $2,000 to win and $200 to start (24th). The full driver payback is listed below. This is also a full LSS points event for all race divisions (see below).

Ken Schrader is one of the most popular and successful drivers in American motorsports, and LSS officials are thrilled to have him bring his Federated Auto Parts #9 Modified to LSS to compete with all the drivers in the region...and meet with the fans.

Schrader’s racing career has spanned 40 years and he has wins and/or championships in about every series in which he has competed; from NASCAR’s three national series to USAC’s Sprint and Silver Crown series. Schrader is a Daytona 500 polesitter and has won the prestigious Bud Shoot-Out at Daytona International Speedway. In addition, he has competed in literally 1,000’s of Dirt Modified and Late Model events throughout his career, so he is fully capable of hanging with the LoneStar big dogs.

This special event is also a chance for race fans to get up close and personal with Ken, as LSS is hosting a pre-race "Party with Ken" VIP Pass.

While supplies last, you can purchase your "Party with Ken" VIP pass at www.darinshort.com/ken.html and it includes the following...and it only adds $10 to the cost of general admission:

If you can't make the party, Ken will also be signing autographs and meeting fans after the races at his race trailer in the pit area.

General Adult Grandstand Admission to this event is just $15, and $5 for kids ages 6-11; as we want everyone to be able to afford to come see this special night of racing and fun!

Along those same lines, the "Party with Ken" VIP Pass costs just $25 for Adults, in other words $10 more than General Admission. Ages 6-11 are $15 and ages 5 and under are $10 (and include all of the VIP Pass components described above).

SAT. MARCH 14 NOW RAINED OUT!

3/14/2015

***SORRY EVERYONE*** Unforecast fog and mist rolled in a while ago at LoneStar Speedway making it pointless to continue moving forward...so we are forced to CANCEL TONIGHT, MARCH 14...Grrr.....:(

We thought maybe since there was no mention of fog/mist that it would be a passing thing, but it's still that way since dawn. It was supposed to be DRY and 65.

Sam and the track crew were getting everything ready to go, but this heavy mist just isn't going away. Crazy weather, anyway.

To all of the Modified teams that pre-entered, your refunds will be issued in about an hour (after this update goes out everywhere).

We were all ready for an awesome show - but mother nature snookered the weather forecasters and everyone else today.

Next up at LoneStar Speedway is APRIL 4 2nd Annual BUNNY HOP 25. Featuring the debut of the Southern Crate Model Series. Points Night, Round 2: $1,000 to win Modifieds; plus Limited Modis, Factory Stocks & Beg. FS. 7PM START TIME, $12 GA, $5 Kids, Pits $30. Details coming soon.
